Tea Ceremony (Wis, trained only)

You a connoisseur of teas, both local and exotic, and you can use the calming nature of tea to heal certain ability damage, as well as perform the famous tea ceremony.

Special Requirement: This skill can only be used trained, and is only available as a class skill to eastern classes such as the monk and the samurai.  Characters who are not of eastern descent can only learn/take ranks in Tea Ceremony if they are exposed to the culture and taught by an eastern practitioner of this skill.

Check: The DC and effect depend on the task you attempt.

PERFORM TEA CEREMONY

In the east it is common for nobles and members of the noble castes, such as the samurai, to host tea parties.  At these parties the host gathers his guests together and they partake of a night of tea tastings and mingling.  At the start of these parties, the host performs the tea ceremony to begin the festivities.

Upon successful completion of the tea ceremony and a night of entertaining your guests, you receive a +4 Moral modifier to Diplomacy and Sense Motive checks when interacting with up to 5 individuals that attended your party.  This bonus lasts for up to 24 hours.

Retry: No. If you fail your check for the tea ceremony, you may attempt to hold another party, but this requires an additional night to attempt to impress your guests.  At least one week must pass between tea parties.

Special: You can take a 10 and a 20 when performing a Tea Ceremony check, but keep in mind the time difference.

Time: The party itself must include a night of tea tasting and mingling, this is typically a four hour event.  The ceremony itself that begins the party can last up to one hour on it's own.

HEAL ABILITY DAMAGE

You can use the Tea Ceremony to center yourself and speed the recovery of ability damage to your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma.  By successfully performing the tea ceremony yourself, you can heal 1 ability point in one ability of your choice.

Retry: Yes, but not on the same day.  24 hours must pass before you attempt to heal ability damage again.

Special: You can take a 10 and a 20 when healing ability damage with a Tea Ceremony check, but keep in mind the time difference.

Time: Performing the Tea Ceremony to heal ability damage requires one hour where you are alone and isolated.  You can only make a Tea Ceremony check to heal ability damage once per day.

IDENTIFY POISON

Your pallet is refined and you are able to identify different types of teas by taste alone.  This refined pallet also allows you to identify poisons by taking a slight (non-lethal) taste of them.  The DC to identify the type of poison is the same as the save DC.  A successful taste of a poison will tell you only one thing per sampling: the type of poison it is, what it is made of, primary damage, secondary damage.  You can choose which piece of information you learn upon successful tasting.

Retry: Yes.  But you must wait 24 hours.  Even if successful, you can only learn one piece of information per day with a successful tasting, further tastings will only garner the same results (and possibly lead to you being poisoned).

Special: You can take a 10 and a 20 when making a Tea Ceremony check to taste poison.

Time: A standard action.

IDENTIFY POTIONS

In much the same way you can identify poisons, you can also identify magic potions by tasting them.  As with poisons, you can learn one piece of information about a potion per tasting.  Things like name, benefit/curse, and item level.

Retry: Yes. But you must wait 24 hours. Even if successful, you can only learn one piece of information per day with a successful tasting, further tastings will only garner the same results.

Special: You can take a 10 and a 20 when making a Tea Ceremony check to taste potions.

Time: A standard action.
