Despite it's isolation and relatively small size, Thunder Rift is a rich and diverse gathering of races and cultures. Along with this comes a vast depth of religion and faiths. Everything from the near monotheistic worship of St Cuthbert by the settled humans to the vast, and admitted complicated, Celestial Bureaucracy of the elves.
Religion has always played a large part in the politics of the Known World, in no small part because many of the peoples of the Known World believe that their gods live among them. In the case of the gypsies and hobbits they have nothing more to go on other than myth and belief. But in the case of the gnomes, they have as much hard proof as they could have. And in the case of the orcs, they believe that they are fulfilling divine prophecy by reclaiming what Gruumsh has created for them.
