The races of the Thunder Rift campaign are even more diverse and unique than the standard races of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign world. The humans are wide spread and have carved out an existence for themselves in almost every corner of the Known World, dwarves are split into three great clans consisting of the highlanders, lowlanders, and the underlanders, gnomes hail from a twilight realm known as Tir Na Nog, and the elves hail from the eastern lands of Tengoku no Niwa, living in a society of a strict caste system and tradition. In addition to those mentioned, there are hobbits, minotaurs, orcs, and the kreen races.
Almost each race is divided into subraces, giving each of them unique bonuses and statistics, as well as their own favored class. A favored class typically plays to a race's strengths, abilities, and society. A gnome's natural skill with illusions, an orc's inherent tendency's towards violence, and a hobbit's love of story-telling all influence their choice of favored classes.
For more on the benefits of favored classes, read the favored classes sidebar in the Classes section.
