Gamble (Wis)

Use this skill to earn silver and gold through games of chance including cards, dice, and organized fights.

Check: You can make skill check for a single game where you play against another character or PC, or you can make a skill check that constitutes an entire night of gambling.

SINGLE GAME

When competing with other opponents for a single game, generally the high roll wins.  Untrained rolls are just a simple Wisdom check.  When engaged in a game like this, there can be as many players in the game as they want there to be, it all plays out the same - the high roll wins.

Before making your Gamble check, you may make a Sense Motive check against a DC 20 to read the players at the table gain a +4 circumstance bonus to your Gamble check.

Retry: No.  Once you lose at a game, you lose, along with any coin you wagered on the game.  You can, however, challenge the winner to another game of chance though.

Special: You cannot take a 10 or a 20 when making a Gamble check during a single game.

  • Bluff: If you have 5 or more ranks in Bluff, you gain a +2 synergy bonus to your Gamble checks.

Time: Varies.  A single game can last anywhere from 5 minutes to half an hour, depending on how many people are involved and if anyone in the game takes a 20.

NIGHT OF GAMBLING

You can make one Gamble check to account for an entire night of gaming and gambling.  This could be anything from back street games to a legitimate casino.  Either way, the following rules apply:

First, you must decide how much money you wish to wager for the entire evening.  The amount you wager and the result of your roll determines how much money you walk away with at the end of the night.
