The ogres of Thunder Rift have their origins in the east, in the lands of Tengoku no Niwa, like the elves and orcs. Like the elves, the ogres were not created they were born into the world, born from the demonic beings the elves call the oni, some of the ogres themselves are even outsiders due to their bloodline and closeness to their underworld parentage. The ogres become the vassals of the oni, their warriors on the Known World.
Wicked and chaotic, the ogres take great pleasure in battle and murder, their favorite prey being elves, tengu, humans, and dwarves. They have few allies, preferring to associate with their own kind, but they have been known to ally with orcs and giants when necessary, as well as the tsuno. The oni, their creators, they worship as gods.
In the thousands of years since the ogres were brought into the known world they have spread like a plague across the world. They have moved across the land, devastating everything in their path and taking great pleasure in the wanton destruction of everything and everyone they came across. Now the ogres -- all of their kind -- can be found in the north, east, and west.
